CHILDREN'S MINISTRIES

Children learn by doing: Jesus is the best example of a teacher who taught by doing. He taught in a way that is easy for all to understand, including children. We believe that every child has the right to learn the truths of the Bible from vibrant and enthusiastic leaders. These are the kinds of leaders we involve in our children's ministry. Our curriculum is up to date and fun for the children, yet it is based solidly upon Biblical values and teachings.

Wilda is a knowledgeable, competent, smiling, and enthusiastic director of our children's ministry. She is also a mom of four beautiful children. She has twenty years of experience in working with children's ministry and has trained and manages a staff who do a great job with our children. Teaming together with her husband Jim, who also thoroughly enjoys working with children and is a master at getting kids involved in active and fun games. Kids will leave our Sunday or Wednesday children's ministry classes wanting to come back and with practical understandable Biblical concepts which will help them to live in these challenging days. I consider it a great honor to have a quality couple like this directing our children's program here at Modesto Free Methodist Church.

ACTIVITIES
Sunday: Nursery and Preschool is staffed for children through age four beginning with worship, and extends through the Sunday School hour. Kindergarten through sixth grade are in our Kindergarten/Primary department. Activities for children include large group activities like singing and drama, and small group activities such as crafts and Bible lessons. The children are in the worship service with the adults for family worship singing and the children's message, given by Pastor Brock Hoyer. Following the children's message, they are dismissed to children's church during the sermon portion of the worship service. Children's Church is a special lesson and active worship. Some of the year they use this time to work on children's musicals which are performed for the whole congregation. The program after our worship during the traditional Sunday School hour, is called "Living Inside Out", which involves singing, multi-media, participatory drama, crafts, and small group Bible lessons.

Wednesday: Nursery care is provided. Kindergarten, Preschool and First grade through Sixth grade are involved in "Christian Life Club". In this program children earn badges through a variety of hands-on learning experiences. It is a Christian program similar in structure to scouts.
